Phoenicia White

Lebanon is a country that never ceases to amaze. Look at the latest offer of the posh Phoenicia hotel. They have launched the “Phoenicia White” service, which you can best describe as a drive-through Laundromat. Simply call them to have someone waiting for you, drive up to the lobby, deliver your dirty laundry and pick it up the next day.

It’s a brilliant move because they have the facilities already. Instead of letting the washers and driers be sitting idle because there are hardly guests, they figured it’s smarter to put them to use. Gotta love the commercial instincts of the Lebanese!

And the prices? Well, they’re quite reasonable, especially considering the Phoenicia hotel is among the top, if not the top hotel in Lebanon. Dry-cleaning a full suit costs you 8 USD and dry cleaning a lady’s blouse will set you back two and a half USD. That's not much above the market rate of dry cleaners in Hamra.

Ah, if only politics was run like private companies...

Lebanon run like a private company...
Looking at the building frenzy of the last decade, Lebanon is doing its own whitewashing quite well :)
